If you're a customer, don't CC someone on your email to me

I work in corporate sales, and have trained myself to NEVER hit the Reply All button. Your coworker won't be included in my response. It's nothing personal, I just never hit that button. You understand, don't you?

It's fun to imagine how pissed off they get when you reply and they have to re-CC that person in on the email again.

If my boss is a dick, he might as me to CC him on an email to that corporate sales guy to make sure I'm doing my job. I hope the guy only responds to me.

I hate when people are added mid-stream. Then I'm like "WTF?!? Why did you invite that person to this conversation?"

You know what's worse? College seniors who don't know how to reply all. I end up forwarding 20+ emails per group project that only get sent to me. God knows what's being sent to everyone else that I never get.

Um...isn't that the point of the CC. They're included in the initial email but not follow ups. If they're part of the ongoing conversation they go in the to line.

That's how it works here.

If they get included in the line, you would still have to reply all to send it to everyone in the line I think ._.

That's correct...but that's how we separate conversations.

Take a invoice from a sub. This usually goes to finance and myself and legal are CC'd. It's a for info only message for me and if finance replies they'll do it only to the sub. If it's a technical RFI where hours to complete are involved both me and finance will be in the To line where legal may be CC'd. That would mean any follow ups should include me, the sub, and finance but not legal.

I think that's pretty common.
